Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington works as an author, philanthropist, television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family when she was 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president in the famous debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. After the graduation ceremony, she was a well-known right-wing syndicated reporter. In the years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political scene. Her fame helped to attract several well-known contributors for posting their opinions on the news political, culture and politics. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she decided to contest independently in the California recall vote to succeed the then governor Davis. Alongside that, she led the Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient vehicles. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as the most influential female media personality, taking the 12th place on the list. The same year, the Guardian listed her on the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL products at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. She was very close with her father, but it was her bond with her mother that has shaped her. As a child, she showed leadership traits that she still is known for. When she was 16, she moved from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's college debating societies which she later became the first female and foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of master's in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic, and a television host. In addition, she was a part of the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from Bernard Levin.
